Eid Expo 2016 was the first event managed by APICC.
Eid Expo 2016 was a celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr held at Navy Pier in Chicago on July 5 and 6, 2016.
Eid Expo 2016 is a community event where families and singles can come to celebrate Eid in a festive environment.
Navy Pier, Chicago on the shore of Lake Michigan is the venue. It offers over 110,000 square feet of space to
accommodate over 5,000 people for Eid prayer, an activity area for all ages, a shopping bazaar with a wide range
of goods, as well as a variety of halal food options.
Eid Expo 2016 is organized by the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC) and the Islamic Food
and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA®) and managed by the American Pan-Islamic Community Council.
The date for Eid prayers was selected based on the Eid declaration by the Fiqh Council of North America. The Fiqh
Council of North America Eid declaration is determined by the sightability of the new crescent moon based on
astronomical information.
The Expo included Eid prayers, games and activities, shopping booths, entertainment, and food vendors.
The Expo began on July 5th, the day before Eid. Attractions on Eid eve included:

- Henna artists
- Photo booth
- Food vendors
- Shopping booths
On July 6th, Eid day, attractions included:
- Two Eid prayers: the 10 am prayer was led by Imam Zaid shakir and the 11 am prayer was led by Maulana Hafiz Yusuf Abdullah
- Bouncy castles
- Balloon artists
- Face painting
- Airbrush painting
- Henna artists
- Photo booth
- Rock climbing
- Food vendors
- Shopping booths
