Eid Expo 2017 builds on the success of Eid Expo 2016.
Eid Expo 2017 was a celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr held at McCormick Place in Chicago on June 25, 2017.
Eid Expo 2017 was a community event where families and singles came to celebrate Eid in a festive environment.
McCormick Place, Chicago on the shore of Lake Michigan was the venue. In a 360,000 square foot hall, with
accomocations for over 10,000 people and activities for all ages, a limited shopping bazaar,
as well as a variety of halal food options, Muslims celebrated Eid with two prayers.
Once again, Eid Expo 2017 was managed by the American Pan-Islamic Community Council (APICC) and co-organized by
the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA®) and the Council of Islamic Organizations
of Greater Chicago (CIOGC).
The date for Eid prayers was selected based on the Eid declaration by the Fiqh Council of North America. The Fiqh
Council of North America Eid declaration is determined by the sightability of the new crescent moon based on
astronomical information.
The Expo included two Eid prayers. At 10 AM, the first Eid prayer was led by Dr. Sherman Jackson;
the second at 11 AM was led by Dr. Mohammed Kaiseruddin.
Hours were 9 AM to 9 PM. Attractions included:

- Inflatable maze
- Rock climbing wall
- Balloon artists
- Face painting/air brushing
- Character actors
- Popcorn & cotton candy
- Mehndi (henna)
- Photo booth
- Food vendors
